Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, along with Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, inspect Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten province, Saturday (03/01).

The Government, Saturday (03/01), officially reduced the airfares of domestic economy class by 13-14 percent for this year’s Eid al-Fitr annual exodus.

The policy is implemented following President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to ease the public’s financial burden and to ensure safe, smooth, and comfortable travel during Eid and Nyepi (Balinese Hindu Day of Silence) holidays.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) made the announcement during a joint press statement alongside Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. The announcement was made after they inspected Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s Terminal 2 in Tangerang, Banten province.

“This time, the Government is providing an additional incentive by bearing 6 percent of the VAT. The Government expects that domestic economy class airfares will decrease by 13-14 percent over a two-week period,” AHY explained.

The reduced airfares apply to tickets purchased from March 1 to April 7, 2025 and it is valid for departures from March 24 to April 7, 2025.

“Hopefully, this initiative will ease those who are preparing to return home to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families,” he added.

In addition to airfare reduction, the Government is also providing a 20 percent discount on toll fees for various homecoming routes.

“Ministry of Public Works has coordinated and it offers a 20 percent discount for multiple toll roads in the country. It is a measure to help reduce land travel costs for the public,” he stated.

Furthermore, Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises have collaborated to launch a free homecoming program for approximately 100,000 people, utilizing buses, trains, and ships.

“This initiative is a direct response to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to ensure that travel during Ramadhan and Eid is safer, more comfortable, affordable, and enjoyable,” the Minister remarked. (UN) (RIF/MMB)
