Bali Provincial Office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights provides a special immigration checkpoint at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali for the High-Level Meeting of the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum 2023 delegates.

This measure was taken to support the successful organization of the forum held on October 10 and 11 at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) in Badung regency.

“In this case, there will be at least two booths to carry out this special duty,” Head of the Bali Provincial Office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights Anggiat Napitupulu said, quoted from the official website of Ministry of Communications and Informatics, on Thursday (10/05).

Anggiat pointed out that each booth will be managed by four officers, adding that the most crucial task is to clear the delegates’ arrival immigration at the International Arrival Terminal.

“Only the arrival is crucial. Meanwhile, there will be 10 booths for departure, each will be manned by two officers,” he said, adding that the arrival clearance of top delegates whose level is the same as ministers, heads of government, or heads of state will be processed at a VIP building.

For the record, Indonesia invited 51 countries to participate in the AIS Forum. The forum will also be attended by leaders of nine international organizations, including the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG), Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In addition, the forum will be attended by leaders of intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, including the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA),

For the record, the AIS Forum was established by the Indonesian Government on the margin of the United Nations Ocean Conference in 2017. It gathers 51 archipelagic and island countries in the Pacific and Caribbean to cooperate on maritime issues.

The 2023 AIS Forum underscores concrete solution to four issues, namely climate change mitigation and adaptation, blue economy and ecotourism, marine plastic debris, and good maritime governance. (UN) (DH/MUR)
