Indonesian delegates visited the Indonesian Search and Rescue (INASAR) center operation team at the quake-hit areas in Antakya, Hatay province, Türkiye, on Wednesday (02/22).

The delegates are, among others, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanti and Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Türkiye Muhammad Iqbal.

Muhadjir expressed appreciation to the INASAR team for conducting search and rescue missions at the country’s quake-hit areas. He also expressed hope that the INASAR team can carry out their duties properly.

“I hope that the INASAR team can carry out their duties well and get support from the Türkiye Government and the public because this mission is also a mission from the United Nations,” Muhadjir said.

According to him, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has an international license for medium-level urban search and rescue from the UN.

“We are planning to upgrade the level and in order to do that, the President is committed to providing equipment and improve personnel skill to be able to obtain a heavy-level license,” he added.

Furthermore, Muhadjir also said that the President asked him to prepare a budget allocation through special policies from general state treasury.

The President has asked me to discuss the budget allocation taken from the general state treasury, because it has not been listed in the State Budget (APBN),” he said. (BPMI/AIT) (SF/EST)
