Minister: Foreign Investors Upbeat over Indonesia’s Commitment to Investment Climate
Following the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) meeting, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani expressed US investors’ confidence in Indonesia’s investment climate under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto.
“They are very excited as most of them have previously invested in Indonesia and some will also invest in Indonesia in the fields of minerals, oil, and gas,” the Minister said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/03).
According to him, these investors have positively responded to the Government’s commitment to law enforcement, corruption eradication, and the ease of doing business in the country. He expressed belief that these measures would provide a sense of security and comfort for business players.
“Mr. President said zero tolerance for corruption or negative issues that will hinder investments. The rule of law will be strictly enforced to provide a sense of comfort to investors investing in Indonesia,” he added.
In addition to the regulatory aspect, the Minister also highlighted the importance of developing local human resources. He expressed hope that the investment should not only support economic growth, but also create technology transfer and boost the capacity of the Indonesian workforce.
“So, it is expected that when they invest, at the same time they will also build and increase the capacity of our human resources, our workers, and hopefully there will also be a transfer of technology,” he said.
The Minister also stated that during the US-ABC meeting, President Prabowo provided a firm answer on the Government’s commitment to support collaboration between foreign and domestic investors to drive sustainable economic growth.
Mr. President clearly explained the Indonesian Government’s commitment to continue increasing the economic growth curve by maintaining investments, both from those that have already entered Indonesia and those that are planning to enter. He also emphasized the importance of collaborating with domestic investors,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (FI/MUR)
