President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo reiterated the obligation for all state civil servants (ASN), personnel of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to maintain neutrality in the 2024 General Elections.

“I want to reiterate that ASN, personnel of the TNI, the Polri, and BIN must be neutral and protect the sovereignty of the people,” said the President in a press statement at the Limapuluh Toll Gate, Batu Bara regency, North Sumatra province, Wednesday (02/07).

He also ordered the ranks of the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) both at the central and regional levels to act professionally and maintain the integrity of the elections.

“The KPU and Bawaslu at all levels must also be professional and ensure the integrity of the elections so that the people’s voice is truly sovereign. We must maintain peace, honest and fair elections, respect the election results, and unite to develop Indonesia,” he emphasized.

A week before the general elections on February 14, 2024, President Jokowi invited all Indonesian people to come to the polling stations (TPS) to exercise their right to vote.

“I invite all people to exercise their right to vote, come to the polling stations and vote according to their choice,” he said. (RF/UN) (EST/MMB)
