President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has set the target to Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi for Indonesian athletes to reach the Top 10 at the 18th Asian Games 2018, which is slated to start in mid-August.

“I target Minister of Youth and Sports to reach at least the Top 10, given in the previous Asian Games Indonesia ranked 17. It is also our hope we can reach the Top 8,” the President told reporters in Jakabaring Rowing & Canoeing Regatta Course, Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, South Sumatra, Saturday (14/7).

Having inspected 14 venues in Jakabaring, the President considered that 99 percent of the sports venues for the 18th Asian Games to be held in Palembang is ready. Meanwhile, for the remaining venues, the President is upbeat that the completion is within the next one or two weeks.

“It means, (the venues) in Jakarta are ready, so are in Palembang,” the President said, adding that the President’s Cup Row Race is to be held as a warm-up to the 2018 Asian Games.

Regarding complaints about the price of the 2018 Asian Games ticket which is considered expensive, President Jokowi claimed to have asked the Indonesian Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC) to give free tickets, particularly to students.

“I haven’t been informed regarding the number of free tickets to be given,” the President concluded. (GUN/ES) (MUR/YM/Naster).
