President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo received the Hiu Kencana Honorary Brevet during a ceremony held aboard Indonesian warship (KRI) dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW-992) on Saturday (09/28).

This award was a tribute to President Jokowi administration’s support for the development and important role of the Indonesian Navy’s submarine fleet.

Upon arriving at the Military Sea Transport Command (Kolinlamil) and passing through an honor guard, President Jokowi boarded the KRI RJW-992 and proceeded to the helicopter deck where the ceremony took place. The event commenced with the presentation of the Hiu Kencana Honorary Brevet by the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto to President Jokowi. This brevet symbolizes the trust and appreciation given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Indonesian Navy, particularly in support of the submarine fleet.

The ceremony continued with the bestowal of the Samkarya Nugraha Honor on KRI Nanggala-402. The Honor Guard carried the KRI Nanggala-402 banner to the site of the bestowal and handed it over to the Commander of the Submarine Squadron of the Fleet Command II, Colonel (Navy) Yulius Azz Zaenal. The banner was then directed to President Jokowi to be decorated with a badge of honor. This procession symbolized the nation’s recognition of the submarine’s significant role in the history of the Indonesian Navy.

After the decoration, the Commander of the Submarine Squadron returned the KRI Nanggala-402 banner to the Honor Guard, marking the end of the bestowal ceremony. The President also presented a plaque of appreciation to the Commander of the Submarine Squadron of the Fleet Command II.

The event became more lively  with demonstrations of primary weaponry equipment by the Indonesian Navy, showcasing various combat capabilities. The attractions included demonstrations by the Naval Special Forces (Pasusla), rapid submarine operations, a sailing pass, a fly pass, and aerial maneuvers by the Rajawali Laut Flight (RaLF). These attractions concluded the event impressively, displaying the readiness and strength of the Indonesian Navy in safeguarding the country’s maritime sovereignty. (BPMI/DNS) (EST/TM)
