President Jokowi Calls on Indonesian Scouts to Master Science, Technology

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo reminded the members of Indonesian Scouts Movement (Pramuka)  to promote the values of discipline and caring, as well as to master science and technology in the time of COVID-19 pandemic.

The President made the statement during commemoration of the 56th anniversary of the Indonesian Scouts Movement (Pramuka) at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/8).

“Both health and economic issues require mastery in science and technology,” President Jokowi said.

Therefore, the President reminded Pramuka members to study hard and master science and technology optimally. “Be excellent Indonesian human resources who are responsive and smart. Do guard the diversity and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). Be the guardian of Pancasila,” the President said.

On that occasion, the Head of State also said that the challenges in the future will be even more difficult and complex since the world is changing rapidly and full of uncertainty.

“The future will be much different compared to the present. You have to prove your persistence in the pursuit of knowledge,” he said.

The President also expressed his hope that Pramuka members can become a bright future generation who will continue to build hopes for glorious and advanced Indonesia that we aspire to achieve.

“Make Indonesia always be proud of the Indonesian Scouts Movement. Long live Pramuka, long live Indonesia,” the President concluded.

Also accompanying the President during the event were Minister of Youth and Sports Zainuddin Amali and Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko. (FID / EN)
