Demands for export products of state-owned defense equipment manufacturing company PT Pindad (Persero) have increased, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said.

The President made the statement following the inspection of Bululawang market in Malang regency, East Java province on Monday (07/24).

“Demands of the export market for these products rose dramatically,” he said, adding that he along with Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir will inspect the SOE’s factory.

“We are heading to Pindad in Malang regency. We are going there. Pindad is under [the management of] Minister of SOE Erick Thohir and Minister of Defense Prabowo,” he said.

The President also pointed out that the three of them will hold a meeting with PT Pindad (Persero) to decide the next measures that the SOE should take regarding the rise in market demands.

“So we will have a meeting at Pindad with them, with the President Commissioner, with everyone to decide which direction Pindad is heading because there are demands, huge demands for exports,” he remarked. (FID/UN) (DH/MMB)
