President Jokowi, First Lady Iriana Plant Trees at Courtyard of Presidential Palace
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Thursday (10/17) conducted a tree planting activity at the courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.
The event that was held in a family-friendly atmosphere was part of the Government’s initiative to promote greenery and preserve the environment around the Palace.
On that occasion, the President planted a Pulai tree, known botanically as Alstonia scholaris while the First Lady planted a Flamboyant tree or Delonix regia.
The Pulai and Flamboyant trees, renowned for their beauty and ecological advantages, are expected to beautify the Palace’s environment and offer long-term benefits for future generations.
The Flamboyant tree planted by First Lady Ibu Iriana is recognized for its bright and striking flowers, often symbolizes beauty and hope. Meanwhile, the Pulai tree selected by President Jokowi represents resilience and strength, embodying the Government’s long-term vision for sustainable development.
The tree planting activity serves as a symbol of remembrance ahead of President Jokowi’s retirement. More than just a ceremony, this event highlighted their ongoing dedication and commitment to the earth, which will carry on even after the term of office concludes.
