President Jokowi Greets Muslims on Eid al-Fitr

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi wished Indonesian muslims a happy Eid al-Fitr through a video.

“From the Bogor Presidential Palace, I wish you a Happy Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri, let us forgive each other,” said the President in the video uploaded at the Cabinet Secretariat YouTube channel, Wednesday (13/5).

The President went on to say that this year’s Eid is still celebrated amidst pandemic so that the Indonesian people still have to refrain from usual mudik (annual exodus) and physical gatherings. “Even though it is tough, we can get through it for the safety of all,” the President said.

The President also expressed hope that the Eid Al-Fitr could be a momentum to rise from the pandemic.

“Hopefully this special day will become a momentum for all of us to rise up and win against the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said. (TGH/UN) (EST/LW)
