President Jokowi Hopes Becakayu Toll Road Could be Used by 2017

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspected the construction of Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) Section 1 Toll Road, at Jalan Inspeksi Kalimalang, East Jakarta, on Monday (7/11) morning.

The President hopes, the project that has been neglected for 22 years, can operate by the end of 2017.

“However, in March, probably, 8 kilometers of the road is ready to be used. So, I want to ensure that the lane is ready,” the President said.The President firmly said that the operation of Becakayu project is really important to overcome the severe traffic congestion.

“Yes, it will greatly reduce congestion. It has been calculated that the presence of this toll road is urgent. It has been neglected but the project will be continued. I think it can be finished within two years. I want to ensure that this project will complete,” the President said.

From the report, the President continued, all have been finished. It only minus 1 percent and it should be pursued, the President requested. According to the President, Becakayu will connect to JORR (Jakarta Outer Ring Road) toll road. “The initial plan was not like this,” the President said.

Ready to be Used in March

President Jokowi also ensure that there is no land acquisition problem. Thus, the President expected some parts of the toll road can be used in March.

Concerning other infrastructures development, the President also asserted that there is no problem since land acquisition can be carried out quite quick thanks to the bailout fund. “There is also no problem in regards to time,” the President firmly said.
