As part of his working visit to Aceh province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (10/15) inaugurated 24 roads and a bridge spread across 14 regencies/municipalities.

The construction of these roads and bridge aims to implement the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads (IJD) in the province.

President Jokowi underlined that the construction of roads and bridges is critical as it will improve connectivity between regencies, municipalities, and provinces, both in terms of the smooth mobility of people and the distribution of goods.

“Damaged roads will hamper mobility of logistics, meaning that they will also affect the prices at the market,” the President said, adding that in 2023 the Presidential Instruction was issued as a measure to construct and repair damaged roads and bridges.

“Today, we will inaugurate 24 road sections stretching 196 kilometers and also a bridge measuring 60 meters long,” he said.

The Head of State also said that the project in Aceh province, in particular, spent a total budget of Rp686 billion, spread across 14 regencies, including East Aceh, Bireuen, Simeulue, Aceh Besar, Pidie, Pidie Jaya, Langsa, North Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh Jaya, Southwest Aceh, Nagan Raya, Gayo Lues, and Bener Meriah.

“Through the construction and repair of these roads, the mobility of people and goods as well as the speed of logistics distribution in Aceh province will improve,” he remarked.

For the record, the President is also scheduled to inaugurate Amanah Youth Creative Hub at the AMANAH Central Office, Aceh Besar regency. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/FID/DNS) (FI/EP)
