President Jokowi Inaugurates 833 Young Military, Police Officers

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (07/26) at the yard of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta inaugurated 833 young officer candidates of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) during the Prasetya Perwira oath-taking ceremony of the TNI and Polri’s officer candidates.

The inauguration of the officers graduated from the TNI Academy is based on Presidential Decree Number 52/TNI of 2023, while that of officers graduated from the Police Academy is based on Presidential Decree Number 53/Polri of 2023.

The inaugurated officers comprise 357 officers from the Military Academy, 94 officers from the Naval Academy, 114 officers of the Air Force Academy, and 268 officers from the Police Academy.

“I will take responsibility as an officer in the fairest way possible for the service to the people of Indonesia and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” the newly-inaugurated military and police officers took their oath.

On that occasion, President Jokowi extended congratulations to the new TNI and Polri officers.

“I am proud to inaugurate young officers; new, brave, confident, and optimistic young knights who are always ready to dedicate yourselves, to unite the people, and to work for the advancement of and serve the nation and the state,” he said.

The President also thanked leaders of the TNI and Polri, educators, trainers, and members of the TNI academy and the Education and Training Institute of the Polri for their dedication in educating TNI and Polri officers.

“To all parents present, I am as happy as you are. I am proud of your daughters and sons’ achievements. They are not only your pride but also the Indonesian people’s pride,” he remarked.

On that occasion, Military Secretary to the President Counter Admiral Hersan also named the best graduate of each academy, namely Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Sawung Setiawan from Military Academy, Second Lieutenant (Sailor) Hermawan Burhanudin Tri Putro from Naval Academy, Second Lieutenant (Pilot) Muhammad Galuh Safari Rahmat from Air Force Academy, and Second Police Inspector Irfan Urane Azis from the Police Academy. (TGH/UN) (DH/EP)
