President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated Yogyakarta International Airport Underpass, which is the longest underpass in Indonesia with length of 1.3 kilometers.

“By saying bismillahirahmanirahim and by asking for the grace of God, I inaugurate the Yogyakarta International Airport Underpass,” President Jokowi said during the inauguration ceremony of the underpass in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Friday (31/1).

The President said that he has inspected the existing facilities at the Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) several times. The Airport, he added, has been equipped with flight navigation services and health services as well as refueling services.

“We hope that the Airport will be in full operation in February or in March,” President Jokowi said.

Also present during the event were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama, and Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.
