President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inspected the handling of refugees and had a dialogue with residents at the quake evacuation located in Trengan Hamlet, Pemenang Timur Subdistrict, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara province, Tuesday (8/14).

The President said that the Central Government would intervene to provide assistance for repairing and rebuilding houses that had collapsed due to the earthquake.

During the dialogue, a school student ventured to ask President Jokowi.

“I am a representative of school students would like to ask about the school that is currently destroyed. We are about to take the national exam. How can we take part in the exam well?”, the student asked.

In response to this, the President tried to strengthen the hearts of school children in refugee camps. He invited them to stay motivated and wait for the rebuilding of their schools damaged by the earthquake.

“All of my children, this is something we didn’t expect. We must accept this with tawakkal (surrender to the will of God). We must have motivating force. The school will soon be built in two weeks,” the President said.

As for the implementation of the exam that was feared by the child, the President ensured that it would be of special concerns to the Minister of Education and Culture. The same thing also happened in several other areas in Indonesia where relevant parties facilitate school children to be able to take the exam well.

“I don’t think it will be difficult for children, everything will be made easier. This has happened in Banjarnegara, in Aceh, Pidie, once happened. So I experienced and saw that this preparation was more or less the same, the handling was the same,” the President concluded.
