President Jokowi chaired a limited meeting on Masela Block, at the Presidential Office (29/12)

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo asserted that we must truly pay attention to mandate of the Constitution which clearly states that the land and the waters as well as the natural richness contained therein shall be controlled by the State and exploited to the greatest benefit of the people.

“Exploited to the greatest benefit of the people means whatever comes from the natural richness must truly be used for the people, for all citizens of Indonesia, for everyone, and not only for a group of people,” President Jokowi said when delivering a remarks in a limited meeting  discussing Masela Block, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/12) afternoon.

President Jokowi asserted that he must stress on this matter because it is a huge project development. Therefore, the President asked not to carry it out hastily and to make a right decision, because it is a long term project.

According to the President, we must realize that our natural resources, both natural oil and gas that contain in our motherland will eventually run out. Therefore, the President asked for a calculation and a detail explanation, so when it’s time to make a decision, we could make the right one.

 I want this big project to bring direct benefit to the economy and create added value which leads to multiplier effect on our national economy,” President Jokowi said.

Attending the event were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for the Economy  Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said, Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/ the Head of National Development Planning Agency Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Industry Saleh Husin, Presidential Chief of Staffs Teten Masduki, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, and President Director of Pertamina Dwi Soetjipto.
