President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Saturday (13/11) planted trees with local community at Mount Pepe Forest Area, Central Lombok regency, West Nusa Tenggara province.
“This morning, I was at Mount Pepe Forest Area in Central Lombok regency, West Nusa Tenggara province. Together with the community, ministers, and governor, we have planted many trees, especially eucalyptus and fruit trees,” President Jokowi said in a press statement after the activity.
The President advised the local community to take care and protect the trees that have been planted. The planting of the trees is expected to protect the surrounding environment as well as to have an economic impact on the neighboring communities.
“It is also to protect our environment, to prevent landslide and flood. Once again, I ask you to take good care of these [trees], because we are still in rainy season, very good for planting. And if the people take care of [the trees] themselves, it will be even better,” he said.
After the activity, the President headed directly to Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Lombok International Airport to leave for Papua province. (FID/UN) (FI/MMB)
