President Jokowi Stresses Importance of Human Resources Quality Development
Indonesia will reap a demographic bonus in 2030 until 2035 and the opportunity that only comes once in a country’s civilization must be used properly so the country can transform into a developed country, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
“This is a golden opportunity for Indonesia’s advancement if used properly,” the said in his remarks during the celebration of 78th Anniversary of Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) and National Teachers Day of 2023 held at Britama Arena, Kelapa Gading district, North Jakarta, Saturday (11/25).
President Jokowi also underscored that human resources quality development is key to the vision of an Advanced Indonesia and in this regard, some international institutions have also shared the same view.
“I have talked to international institutions. The key lies in human resources development. Human resources quality is the key,” President Jokowi said, adding that it can be achieved by the contribution of excellent and great Indonesian teachers who also become adviser, motivator, mentor, best friend, as well as role model.
“School should serve as a learning place to develop and grow children’s talents and potentials so they can be strong physically, emotionally, and spiritually, as well as become smart and skillful,” the President said.
The President further said that the Government is also committed to providing supports for teachers, including by improving their welfare.
Report from Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim and Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment Abdullah Azwar Anas show that recruitment for teachers with the status of agreement-based government employees (ASN P3K) held in 2021 and 2022 enabled 544,000 non-tenured teachers to be appointed as ASN P3K teachers.
“We hope that within three years, there will be approximately 840,000 teachers recruited as ASN P3K and in 2024, the number will reach to 1 million ASN P3K teachers,” President Jokowi explained. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat/AIT)(AW/EP)
