President Jokowi, Vietnamese PM Discuss Maritime Cooperation, EV
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (09/04) had a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Vietnam Phạm Minh Chính at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Monday (09/04).
During the meeting, the two leaders pushed for the realization of cooperation in maritime affairs and fisheries between Indonesia and Vietnam.
“The PM of Vietnam invited the President to Vietnam. They both pushed for the realization of cooperation in sustainable maritime affairs and fisheries,” Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said in her statement following the meeting.
Furthermore, Retno stated that as a foundation of the cooperation in fisheries, President Jokowi urged that both countries immediately sign a memorandum of understanding on that matter.
“The President urged that the MoU on fisheries be signed soon. This is the foundation of cooperation in managing sustainable fisheries,” he said, adding that the two leaders welcome the cooperation in electric vehicle (EV) development by the private sector and promote cooperation between state-owned enterprises of both countries.
Joining the President at the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud M. D., Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/MUR)
