President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi on Monday (07/24) visited Bululawang market, Malang regency, East Java province.

“I am visiting a market in Malang regency to check commodity prices. I saw commodity prices here are low,” the President told journalists after the visit.

The President said that commodities at the Bululawang market were affordable due to the large amount of supply and low inflation rate.

According to the President, the price of chicken was in the range of Rp 34,000 per kilogram, while the price of shallots are in the range of Rp 26,000 per kilogram.

“I think this is good because most of commodities come from Malang regency. It means that the inflation is under control, and we have enough supply of goods,” the President stated.

During the visit, President Jokowi also handed over a number of social assistance and distributed food packages to traders in the market. (FID/UN) (RI/LW)
