President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (02/18) held a limited meeting with several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono stated that during the meeting, the President underscored the importance of infrastructure development that directly impacts national economic growth.
“In today’s limited meeting, the President once again emphasized the importance of infrastructure development that has a direct impact on national economic growth, as well as on regional economies and the overall well-being of the Indonesian people,” Agus said in his press statement following the meeting.
The Minister also highlighted that adequate infrastructure development is essential to support key national targets such as food self-sufficiency, energy self-sufficiency, downstream industries, and improved connectivity.
He also noted that the Government would continue exploring alternative funding solutions beyond relying solely on the State Budget.
“Our goal is to continue seeking solutions, including alternative funding sources that do not rely solely on our State Budget or fiscal capacity but also on credible and sustainable investments from both domestic and international sources. The private sector will play a crucial role in collaborating with the Government to ensure that these infrastructure projects are successfully implemented,” he said.
The Minister also mentioned that the meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming Lebaran homecoming (mudik) season, adding that the transportation sector would receive special attention to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for returning holiday goers.
“We want the Indonesian people to perform their religious duties while also traveling safely, smoothly, and comfortably during the Lebaran homecoming (mudik). Ensuring affordable and accessible transportation is a priority,” Agus said, adding that the meeting also covered various transportation facilities, including land, sea, and air transport, which must be strengthened to support the economic and tourism sectors.
“We want to enhance economic and tourism development and we hope this can be done intensively. We will continue mapping out priority projects across Indonesia,” he added.
Agus also stressed the importance of mapping transmigration areas and revitalizing regions, especially in Papua and Eastern Indonesia. He also emphasized the need for proper land-use planning and spatial management across Indonesia.
“We recognize the various land-use demands, including residential areas, industrial zones, and plantations, all of which must be carefully managed to maintain ecological balance. This presents a complex challenge for Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR-BPN),” he stated.
Agus said that President Prabowo Subianto appreciates the progress in infrastructure development and remains committed to finding solutions to the existing challenges.
“President Prabowo is pleased that infrastructure projects are progressing and continuously evolving. We are listening to public input and expectations, which are crucial for shaping infrastructure policies in Indonesia,” Agus said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/ABD) (AS/EP)
