President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) should serve as the bridge for an inclusive future amid these increasingly complex global challenges.

This statement was delivered by the President in the APEC Leaders Informal Dialogue with Guests at Lima Convention Center, Peru, Friday (11/15).

President Prabowo Subianto also suggested three strategies that APEC should carry out to achieve the goal.

First, APEC should serve as the bridge to resilience. The President underscored the importance of cooperation in the clean energy transition and the development of resilient infrastructure against the climate change. The President also encouraged the importance of industrial downstreaming to achieve food self-efficiency.

“We are facing climate change and many of our islands are threatened by the rising sea level. We are cooperating with other countries and invited them to our joint economic activities,” he said.

Second, APEC should serve as the bridge to innovation.

In this strategy, the Head of State also underscored the importance of inclusive digital transformation by addressing the technology gap and promoting technology transfer among APEC members to encourage innovations in the region.

“We believe the Asia-Pacific region will lead the digital transformation and inclusivity.” he stated.

Third, APEC should serve as the bridge to greater inclusion. President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that all individuals and groups should enjoy the benefits of global development.

For this reason, the President encouraged the efforts to eradicate poverty and corruption in Indonesia to realize transparent governance.

“Indonesia supports APEC priorities in these matters,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, the President reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to free trade, continuity, and inclusiveness, adding that APEC should be the prime model to strengthen   solidarity and collaboration among APEC members.
