President Prabowo Subianto Applauds Indonesia’s Inflation Control Mechanism

President Prabowo Subianto expressed his profound appreciation for the inflation control mechanism, highlighting it as a significant innovation in the governance of the national economy.

“I urge that this mechanism be sustained, and I instruct Minister of Home Affairs to ensure its continuation. I also extend my gratitude to all parties involved, both at the central and regional levels across ministries. My appreciation and thanks go out to everyone. I believe this will one day serve as a case study for other countries to learn from us,” President Subianto said in his remarks at the 2024 Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, held at Sasana Bhakti Praja, Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, Monday (12/09).

According to the President, attaining food self-sufficiency at both the national and regional levels is essential for controlling inflation in the future.

The Head of State called for the achievement of food self-sufficiency down to the regency and district levels to be in line with the nation’s local wisdom.

“The key, once again, is self-sufficiency—food self-sufficiency in the broadest and most comprehensive sense. Since long ago, we have been taught that every village must have a food barn. This is our grand strategy,” the President said.

On that occasion, the President praised initiatives by regions like South Sumatra Province for implementing a simultaneous planting movement. He noted that this effort aligns with the Government’s overarching strategy to strengthen national food security.

President Prabowo also praised the achievement of national inflation which was successfully suppressed below 3 percent even amidst global uncertainty. This, according to him, is an achievement that should be appreciated.

In addition, the President also lauded the achievement of maintaining national inflation below 3 percent despite global uncertainty, considering it a remarkable success.

“Overall, considering our current conditions, I believe we should be quite grateful. With inflation below 3 percent, I consider this an achievement,” he said.

President Subianto also underscored the importance of preserving unity and harmony in the face of global instability. He urged all elements of the nation to resist provocations that could lead to separation.

“Indonesia is too strong, too rich, and too vast to be easily undermined. Food self-sufficiency and energy self-sufficiency are the keys to controlling inflation, and breakthroughs like these are invaluable,” he stressed.

Concluding his remarks, President Prabowo conveyed his optimism about Indonesia’s resilience in tackling economic and global challenges. He urged all relevant parties, particularly ministries and regional governments, to continue innovating in controlling inflation.

“Implement it and sustain it. We are grateful that inflation is under control, and we must continue to maintain it. The key moving forward is production.
