President Prabowo Warmly Welcomed by the Indonesian Community in Cairo

The presence of President Prabowo Subianto at a hotel where he stayed during his state visit to Kairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, on Friday evening (4/11), was welcomed warmly and enthusiastically by the Indonesian community who reside and study in the land of the Prophet. Several students and members of the Indonesian community residing in Egypt looked happy to meet the Head of State in person during his state visit to Egypt.

Lydia, an Indonesian student from Aceh who is studying to become an anesthesiologist in Cairo, expressed her happiness to meet with President Prabowo in person. She said that this visit symbolized the government’s attention to the Indonesian community residing abroad, especially in the health sector.

“We are really happy with President Prabowo’s visit to Arab Republic of Egypt. Thank you President Prabowo for visiting and meeting with the Indonesian community in Arab Republic of Egypt,” said Lydia

In that meeting, Lydia explained that the President asked many things regarding her study in Arab Republic of Egypt. Lydia also hoped that the Government continuously gives attention to the doctors’ needs in Indonesia.

Hopefully, in the future, Indonesia can have [enough] medical specialists so there will be no shortage of medical specialists,” she hoped.

The same hope was also expressed by B. Nur Anisa, an Indonesian student from Jambi who studies Islamic Law.

“Masha Allah, I am really happy to meet President Prabowo in person,” she said.

In a brief conversation with the President, she was asked about her study and life in Cairo. During that conversation, she also explained her motivation to come to the hotel where President Prabowo was staying.

“To meet the President in person. Moreover, to show all the people in Indonesia that Indonesians residing in other countries far from Indonesia can also meet the President in person,” she said.

She also expressed her hope that the Government will continue to support the Indonesian students abroad. “We as Indonesian community, hope for a good education and comfort while residing in Arab Republic of Egypt, considering there are many Indonesian students studying in this country,” she said.

Meanwhile, Alvia Sari, an Indonesian who has lived in Cairo for two and a half years, also expressed her pride in this opportunity. Alvia’s son was appointed as the representative of the Indonesian community residing in Arab Republic of Egypt during the welcoming ceremony of President Prabowo.

“Alhamdulillah, I did not expect that my son would be chosen. Since there are many other children, I am thrilled, I am very happy. Especially when President Prabowo kissed our son, I was very moved,” said Alvia emotionally.

The meeting between President Prabowo and the Indonesian community in Cairo became a crucial moment in strengthening emotional relations between the leader of the country and his people abroad.
