Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia Before Departure for a Working Visit to Cairo, Egypt, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 17, 2024
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Good afternoon,
May prosperity be upon us all,

Salve,
Om Swastiastu,
Namo Buddhaya,
Greetings of Virtue.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, I along with a limited delegation from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia will depart for Cairo, Egypt. This visit has two purposes: first, to conduct a state visit and second, to attend the D-8 Summit in Cairo, Egypt.
This will be the first state visit by an Indonesian President to Egypt since 2013, which means 11 years ago. Egypt is a close friend, a strategic partner for Indonesia, and an important country in the Middle East. I will hold a bilateral meeting with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.
Following that, I will attend the D-8 Summit. The D-8 is an organization for economic and development cooperation among eight developing countries, established in 1997. Its members are Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Türkiye, and Pakistan. Under the current circumstances, I believe the D-8 Summit is an important forum. Specifically, starting January 1, 2026, Indonesia will assume the chairmanship of the D-8. That is why I am attending.
After the conclusion of the Summit, I will also conduct informal meetings with several economic and industry leaders, and I will make a stop in Malaysia to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
I have delivered instructions to the entire cabinet members and to the Vice President. The preparation for Christmas and the New Year is complete, and I believe everything will run smoothly. With the modern communication tools, I am available at any time. Therefore, if there are important decisions to be made, everyone can consult with me directly.
That concludes my statement. We always pray that God the Almighty will bless and protect all our activities we carry out with the best intentions.
I thank you.
Good Afternoon.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Shalom,
Salve,
Om santi santi santi om,
Namo Buddhaya.
