Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Today, I together with a limited entourage will conduct a working visit to Japan. Japan is Indonesia’s important and strategic partner. Japan is also an important and strategic partner for ASEAN.

There are three main agendas in Tokyo, among others holding a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kishida; chairing the ASEAN-Japan Summit with PM Kishida; and attending the AZEC (Asia Zero Emission Community) Summit. In a bilateral meeting with PM Fumio Kishida, we will discuss cooperation in economy, infrastructure, energy transition, critical minerals, and maritime affairs sectors.

PM Kishida and I will chair the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan relations adopting a theme ‘Golden Friendship, Golden Opportunity’. The Summit will also focus on strengthening of the future ASEAN-Japan partnership through green economy, acceleration of digital transformation, and implementation of ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific.

I will also attend the first AZEC Summit that was launched on the sidelines of G20 Summit in Bali last year. As the co-initiator of AZEC, Indonesia will uphold the spirit of inclusive collaboration to realize emission-free region. The Summit will be attended by Japan as the co-initiator, as well as Australia, and ASEAN member countries.

I, along with the entourage, will return to Indonesia on December 19th, 2023.

I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Yes, the IKN will be discussed in a bilateral meeting with other countries. I will also encourage Japanese investors or Government to cooperate in one and more projects.

I think the subject is relevant to be discussed because it is not merely a global problem, ASEAN’s problem, but also the problem of countries where they fled to. Malaysia also has a similar problem with larger number [of refugees]. I think we share the same problem with quite large number as well.
