Your Excellency Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong,

Welcome back to Indonesia.

Indonesia is honored to host the 2024 Leaders’ Retreat, which is the seventh Leaders’ Retreat that reflects our unwavering commitment for continuous cooperation between Singapore and Indonesia.

Earlier, PM Lee and I had a discussion on several sectors. First, the sector of politics and defense. We welcomed the implementation of FIR, defense, and extradition agreement, in which its full implementation needs to be ensured in the future.

Second, we offered several potential investment opportunities in economic sector, namely textile manufacture in Kendal Industrial Park and in green economy sector through sustainable infrastructure and development of data center in Nongsa, Batam.

Allow me to appreciate the enthusiasm of 29 Singaporean companies to invest in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) and I am looking forward for their support in the development project of solar power plant in IKN. The plan to export electricity to Singapore and investment of supporting green industry will be pushed for.

Regarding food security, we have agreed to promote cooperation of transfer of technology and science in food processing industry. In terms of halal product cooperation, Indonesia has invited Singapore to become a developer of three halal industrial parks, in Bintan, Serang, and Sidoarjo.

Third, cooperation in socio-cultural sector. We also discussed the strengthening of health transformation through investment in hospital and clinic development, capacity building for medical personnel, health digitalization, and development of health special economic zone (KEK) in Bali. Regarding education, Indonesia has underscored the importance of reactivating joint working groups. I’d also like to invite Singapore to attend the 10th World Water Forum in Bali.

Lastly, we also discussed global and regional issues. We have agreed to keep pushing for establishing peace in the Middle East and striving to strengthen ASEAN centrality.

I’d like to invite PM Lee Hsien Loong to deliver his statement.

I thank you.
