Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
This morning, the delegation and I will depart for a working visit to Washington, D.C. from May 11 to 13, 2022. Together with other ASEAN heads of state, I will participate in a series of two-day meetings of the ASEAN-US Special Summit.
The series of meetings I will attend include meetings with members of congress, meetings with major US CEOs, as well as meetings with Vice President Harris and the US Climate Change Team, as well as high-level meetings with ASEAN leaders and President Biden.
Indonesia currently holds the ASEAN-United States Partnership Coordinator for the 2021-2024 period. Indonesia hopes that this Special Summit will result in cooperation that can contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. With the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, ASEAN is ready to create synergy with all ASEAN partner countries, including the United States, in developing concrete, inclusive and mutually beneficial cooperation. We bear the responsibility to make the Indo-Pacific a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region.
That concludes my statement. I will return to Jakarta once the series of meetings are over, namely on May 13 evening and will arrive in Indonesia on Sunday, May 15, 2022.
I thank you.
Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
