Tourism Minister Called on Regional Governments and Tourists to Prepare Tourist Destinations for Eid al-Fitr Holiday

Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno encouraged regional governments and tourism business actors in Indonesia to ensure the readiness of tourist destinations as an anticipation of Eid al-Fitr holiday.

“We have prepared and will issue a letter due to the upcoming 2024 Eid al-Fitr to all regional governments to prepare the tourist destinations and attractions,” Sandi said in the Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno, in Jakarta, Monday (03/18).

The Minister mentioned that the potential domestic tourists that will join the homecoming tradition during Eid al-Fitr holiday will reach to 193.6 million people or 71.7 percent of the total population of Indonesia.

“Surely, they will go back to their hometown for celebrating Eid al-Fitr, but not only that, they will also have leisure. If we see the potential, so we have to plan it well,” he said.

A number of tourist events prepared by Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy during 2024 Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are, among others, updating the e-catalog of homecoming tradition/visiting mosques; Ramadan Night Run on March 16 and 23, 2024 in Jakarta; Ramadan Jazz Festival on March 29-30, 2024 in Jakarta; Indonesia Fashion Week on March 27-31, 2024 in Jakarta.

Additionally, there are also events, such as Homecoming (mudik) with Ms Glow on April 6, 2024 in Jakarta; Bakdan Neng Solo on April 12-13, 2024; Batam Ramadan Wonderfood and Art on March 9-30, 2024 in Batam; and Aceh Ramadan Festival on April 28-1, 2024.

“I have visited Jambi province when Suhoor March Festival was held. In Riau Islands, they hold Batam Ramadan Wonderfood and Art, and there are also events in Aceh province, Solo city, and West Sumatra province,” he further said. (RF/UN) (AW/LW)
