We Must Work Hard to Bring Social Justice for People of Indonesia, President Jokowi Says
President Joko Jokowi Widodo attends the celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Wednesday (10/1). In his speech, President Jokowi said that PDI-P has passed major obstacles, the spirit of struggle never goes out, compactness never fades away, no one doubts strong leadership, and gotong royong (mutual cooperation) always strengthens the Party.
The 45-year journey has strengthened the PDI-P. According to the President, as a party that fights for the interests of wong cilik (a Javanese slang term for the grassroots), PDI-P upholds the aspiration of the nation’s founders, continues the great work of Bung Karno, strengthens Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity the official national motto of Indonesia), and upholds Pancasila (the Five Principles , the Indonesian state ideology). “We are all proud that PDI-P has raised many local and national figures, contributed to various ideas of development, worked for the rise of Indonesia Raya,” the President added.
The President also said that Indonesia is fortunate to have militant, democratic, and visionary PDI-P cadres without ignoring the history of the nation. The President also added that PDI-P is an important supporter of the vision and development of Indonesia-centrist, the driving force of the realization of the world maritime fulcrum, and the supporter of the implementation of Nawa Cita (nine priority programs of Jokowi-JK Administration) throughout the Archipelago.
“Indonesia is also fortunate to have PDI-P which is a representation of the diversity of Indonesia that it is the unity that always reinforces the spirit of Indonesian unity, supports the struggle against poverty, backwardness, and inequality,” the President said.
In addition, the President said that there is one word that made PDI-P stand firm, namely gotong royong. He added that gotong royong makes all united.
“Gotong royong is what makes us confident that we will be able to fight for a noble cause. It is gotong royong that makes us confident that PDI-P will continue to be the face of the struggle of the Indonesian people,” the President said.
According to the President, the struggle has not ended yet, the devotion has not been completed, and the task of history is still continuing. “Indonesia must be a developed country, Indonesia must be free from poverty, Indonesia must be a winning country, Indonesia must play a role in world leadership,” the President firmly said.
On the occasion, the President said that all component of the nation should continue to focus on working to increase economic growth, reduce inequality, and poverty. “We must continue working to present Pancasila, we must constantly maintain the unity of Indonesia amid different political choices and cooperation. We must work hard to bring about social justice for all Indonesian people,” the President added.
The President said that the role of PDI-P cadres is all needed and anticipated. “We are expected to work together with the people to realize social justice, to ground the Pancasila on the Motherland, to make ideology really work and felt by the people,” the President concluded.
