Indonesia, Japan Agree to Safeguard Peace

President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister of Japan Takaichi Sanae agree to strengthen the strategic partnership at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday (03/31).
During a bilateral meeting held at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday (03/31), President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister of Japan Takaichi Sanae agreed to strengthen Indonesia-Japan strategic partnership and foster active roles in maintaining global stability and peace.
On the occasion, the two leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation to support regional stability amid ongoing global uncertainties. President Prabowo stated that Indonesia and Japan shared aligned views regarding conflict de-escalation efforts.
“We agreed that both Japan and Indonesia will exert tireless efforts to encourage all parties to deescalate [the conflict]. We are also prepared to serve as mediators if necessary and to facilitate any de-escalation effort in order to maintain peace,” the President stated.
The President further noted that Indonesia-Japan strong relations are a concrete example of collaboration that contributes to regional stability. “We are deeply concerned about the current situation. Though amid these uncertainties, the excellent cooperation between Indonesia and Japan reflects a partnership that promotes and ensures stability as well as peace in our region,” he added.
In terms of development aspect, the President reaffirmed that both countries remain committed to maintain and further enhance the long-standing relations. He also expressed his appreciation for Japan’s various supports for Indonesia’s economic development.
“We are very grateful that many of our young people have been granted opportunities to study in Japan across various fields. Many of our manpower are also permitted to participate in internship programs here in Japan,” he stated.
Prior to the meeting, in a joint press statement, the President also showed his appreciation for the cordial welcome extended by the Japanese Government during his official visit. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet His Majesty Emperor of Japan, underscoring Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening long-standing bilateral ties.
“I would also like to express my sincere appreciation for the warm welcome by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. I reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthening the long-established and well-developed relations between Japan and Indonesia,” the President stated.
Concluding his remarks, the President extended an official invitation to the Prime Minister of Japan Takaichi to pay a return visit to Indonesia. “Once again, I feel deeply honored by the Government and the people of Japan. I would like to invite Her Excellency Prime Minister of Japan Ms. Takaichi Sanae to conduct an official visit to Indonesia. We will welcome Her Excellency cordially, without a doubt,” he said.
