President Prabowo, President Xi Pledge Deeper Ties During Bilateral Meeting in Beijing

President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Wednesday (09/03). The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere following the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
During the meeting, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation to President Xi for the invitation to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin as well as the commemorative events in Beijing. The Head of State conveyed his apologies for being unable to attend the SCO Summit.
President Prabowo also extended his gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to him and the Indonesian delegation since their arrival in Beijing. He recalled his previous meeting with President Xi during his state visit to Beijing in November 2024, which he considered a significant milestone in the strategic relations between the two countries.
In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China, President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China. This commitment, he underscored, will elevate bilateral relations to an even closer level across various sectors. The two leaders also discussed the planned giant sea wall project along the northern coast of Java Island.
The bilateral meeting in Beijing further reflected the shared perspectives of both countries in maintaining regional stability and strengthening international cooperation. The meeting marked the conclusion of President Prabowo’s working visit to China and reinforced the foundation of friendship that has been nurtured for more than seven decades.
