President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday (11/27) had a bilateral meeting with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, who also acted as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate (UNSGSA) for Financial Health.

The meeting, which was warm and productive, demonstrated Indonesia’s commitment to accelerating inclusive transformation and financial health programs as a foundation for future people’s welfare.

In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for Queen Máxima’s contribution to the concept of financial health in various countries, including Indonesia.

“Her Excellency Queen Máxima, once again, I would like to welcome your visit to Indonesia and express my deepest appreciation for your role as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health,” said Prabowo.

He emphasized that Indonesia needs a national strategy that is well-structured and strong. This includes establishing a cross-sectoral council that will make direct recommendations to the President and accelerate policy implementation.

“I think this is something real and we should move fast,” he emphasized.

In response to the President’s statement, Queen Máxima also expressed her appreciation for Indonesia’s success in expanding financial services accessibility. She also underlined the importance of the end goal for financial inclusivity.

“I think this is the time to see the reason behind financial inclusivity. We want people to have a better life today and tomorrow. And not to get trapped in trouble. So, I think this is the core of financial health,” Queen Máxima said.

Besides acknowledging progress in Indonesia, she also mentioned the need for stronger policy implementation so that the idea of inclusivity will truly benefit the poor, informal workers, and MSME’s businesses.

The meeting marked a new chapter of strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the international community in strengthening national financial policy architecture, promoting safer and affordable financial services, strengthening literacy and family financial resilience, and implementing concrete programs that benefit people in improving their welfare.

The bilateral meeting is also a milestone in opening up opportunities for national economic transformation that is fair, equal, and socially sustainable. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/MMB)
