President Jokowi Inspects Pekanbaru’s Pasar Bawah Traditional Market
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (1/4) inspected Pasar Bawah traditional market in Pekanbaru city, Riau province.
Arriving at around 12.00 western Indonesia time, the President greeted the traders and the public at the market. He also distributed social assistance to the beneficiaries.
In his press statement after the inauguration of the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road, the President said that the visit to the market aimed to see the economic activities and to boost the spirit of the traders.
Based on the information given by the traders, the President continued, the turnover of traders in 2022 would be better than the previous year. The traders also expressed hope that the revocation of the public activity restrictions (PPKM) could further increase their turnover.
“After the PPKM policy was revoked, the traders hoped that the turnover will be better, meaning that in 2023 everyone is hopeful and optimistic that it will be better than in 2022,” said the President.
The presence of the President at Pasar Bawah was also enthusiastically welcomed by traders and the surrounding community. (JW/FID/UN) (EST/LW)
