President Jokowi Lauds National Football Team for Defeating Vietnam 3-0
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo extended appreciation to the Indonesian National Football Team for winning the match against Vietnam 3-0 in the second round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the Asian zone Group F, in My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, Vietnam.
“I guess everyone is delighted as we can win the match at Vietnam’s home with the score of 3-0,” the President said in his press statement in Sigi regency, Central Sulawesi province, Wednesday (03/27).
The Indonesia’s three goals scored by Jay Idzes, Ragnar Oratmangoen, and Ramadhan Sananta mark the first win of Indonesia against Vietnam in the past 20 years.
He went on to say that Indonesia’s ranking in FIFA will increase due to the score. The match also indicated gradual improvement in Indonesia’s national football team structure and placed Indonesia in the second place in the temporary standings of Group F in the 2026 World Cup qualifier for the Asia zone.
