President Prabowo Subianto granted rehabilitation to two teachers from North Luwu regency, South Sulawesi, namely Drs. Abdul Muis and Drs. Rasnal, M.Pd., after considering the aspiration of the people and various elements that have fought for the restoration of both teachers’ reputation. The decision was immediately made once President Prabowo arrived in Indonesia on Thursday (11/10), after his working visit to Australia.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad explained that the signing of the rehabilitation letter was carried out by the President at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta.
“Mr. President has signed the rehabilitation letter for Mr. Rasnal and Mr. Abdul Muis, the high school teachers from North Luwu regency,” Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said in his press statement.
Dasco added that both teachers were accompanied by some local people to the Regional House of Representatives of South Sulawesi province. Then, they were referred to meet the House of Representatives and finally facilitated to meet President Prabowo. With the issuance of the rehabilitation letter, the Government restores their name, dignity, honor, and rights that have been affected by legal issues.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi mentioned that President Prabowo’s decision was made through intensive coordination between various related elements during the last week, in response to official proposals from the people as well as the legislative institutions.
“We are aware that the teachers as the unrelenting heroes who should receive careful attention, we should respect and protect them. Despite the ongoing issues and dynamics, we seek the best solution,” he stated.
Minister Prasetyo expressed hope that the decision could bring a sense of justice to all parties, especially the education sector in Indonesia. “Hopefully, the decision could ensure fairness for both of the teachers that we all respect, and to the people and the education sector, not only in North Luwu regency, but also in South Sulawesi, and throughout Indonesia,” Minister Prasetyo remarked.
