The Government has asserted its commitment to conduct a range of empowerment initiatives aimed at enhancing the community’s self-reliance.

“Many issues require urgent attention, starting with ensuring accurate and targeted data. Another priority is enhancing the capacity of small and medium businesses as well as cooperatives by providing support in terms of resources and raw materials. We will also facilitate connections between MSMEs, ensuring that large businesses synergize and collaborate with them,” Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar said in his press statement after attending a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at Bogor Palace, West Java province, Friday (01/03).

According to the Coordinating Minister, the President also addressed the need to improve the capacity and skills of migrant workers and to establish 100 new job training centers for them.

“For departure, the preparation of specific positions, standard quality skills, and vocations will be specifically developed through the establishment of 100 new job training centers,” Muhaimin said.

In addition, the Government will broaden access to funding for MSMEs, cooperatives, creative economy, and migrant workers through low-interest loans. The funding model will be implemented in collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions, including a low-cost credit program distributed through revolving loan fund.

“This initiative aims to establish a savings and loan model with very low borrowing. We will follow up on this with relevant ministries, particularly Ministry of Finance, in the form of government funds lent to migrant workers and MSMEs,” he said.

Muhaimin further stated that another key program is the optimization of social assistance through Ministry of Social Affairs, adding that the Government will improve the data on aid recipients by accepting proposals and objections from the public to ensure that social assistance is right on target.

“The goal is that not a single underprivileged person in this Republic will be left without assistance. This is what we strive to achieve in the shortest possible time,” the Coordinating Minister remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (RIF/MMB)
