Government Regulation No. 17/2015: the Government Will Have Food Reserves

In order to implement the provisions of Article 28 Paragraph (4), Article 43, Article 48 Paragraph (2), Article 52 Paragraph (2), Article 54 Paragraph (3), Article 112, Article 116, and Article 131 Paragraph (2) of the Act No. 18 of 2012 on Food, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on March 19, 2015 ago has signed the Government Regulation (The PP) No. 17 of 2015 on Food Security and Nutrition.

The PP as thick as 53 pages set the matters: a. Government Food Reserves and Local Government Food Reserves; b. Food Diversification and Improvement of Community Nutrition; c. Preparedness and Countermeasures of Food Crisis; d. Food Distribution, Food Trade and Food Assistance; e. Supervision; f. Food and Nutrition Information System; and g. Community participation.

550 Journalists will Cover the Asian-African Conference, 200 of Them From Japan

Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara, as Head of Media and Public Relations of the National Committee for Commemoration of 60 Years of Asian-African Conference (KAA) reveals, more than a thousand journalists who register coverage, 40 percent comes from foreign media.

“There are about 40 percent of the foreign media, while approximately of 60 percent of the rest, are the domestic media,” Rudiantara said in Jakarta, Tuesday (7/4).

Rudiantara mentions that the majority of foreign journalists coming from Japan (about 200 persons) and China (about 100 persons). “Well, now we’re at the reviews all incoming media,” Rudiantara said.

President Jokowi Depart to Bali and NTB

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Hj Iriana Joko Widodo, Thursday (8/4) morning, headed to Bali and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for a working visit until Saturday (11/4).

Jokowi President and his entourage headed to Bali by the Presidency of the Republic of Indonesia’s plane took off from Halim Air Base at around 6:15 pm.

In Bali, President Jokowi among others scheduled to attend the Congress PDIP IV, while in NTB, among others, will attend the World Greets Tambora and harvesting the corn.

Japanese Businessmen Promise to Become the Largest Investors Again in Indonesia

A total of 46 Japanese businessmen who are members of the Japan Business Federation, or Keidanren led by Chairman Sakakibara met President Joko Widodo, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/4) afternoon.

Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Yusron Ihza Mahendra expressed that this meeting is a follow up of the meeting between President Jokowi with the Japanese businessmen on a visit to Japan recently.

“There are many issues discussed at the meeting, among other issues that concern us all this time, namely the construction of infrastructure, electricity, and also about the expectations the Japanese side to easiness in licensing,” said Yusron told to reporters after the meeting.

Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman said, based on the evaluation of the work since October 2014 until March 2015, has been an increase in planted area of 700 thousand hectares, which is expected to increase production to 3 million tons.

In addition, the government also will build food estate, and the future for the downstream area of 3 million hectares of which will be done this year.

There may be opening a new land? “This is future plans, on the border of 1 million hectares for oil palm, then in Kalimantan 500 thousand hectares for food estate. Planned to plant corn, soybeans, and rice,” said Amran told to reporters after limited meeting that addressed the issue of agriculture and plantations, in the office of President, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/4) afternoon.

Open the INACRAFT 2015, President Jokowi Wish Indonesian Handicrafts Industry Could be Number One in the World

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted that he dreamed of handicraft products from Indonesia could be number one in the global market. Currently, Indonesia is still in the 12th in the world.

“Let us dream of our handicraft products from Sabang to Merauke be number one.,”  President Jokowi said, in opening speech of the largest handicraft trade fair in Indonesia, 17th INACRAFT, at the Jakarta Convention Centre on Wednesday (8/4).

To realize this dream, Jokowi President advised the handicraft entrepreneurs in order to continue the innovate. “We must be daring to wear designer from the outside, the marketing from the destination country. This will accelerate the penetration of our products into the European market,” the President said.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited the headquarters of PT (Persero) State Electricity Company (PLN), on Jl. Trunojoyo, Jakarta, Tuesday (7/4) noon. On this occasion, President Jokowi met the officials of PLN, ranging from CEO Sofyan Bashir to the Heads of Division, and giving spirit to achieve the procurement target of 35 thousand megawatts, which should be achieved within a period of five years.

The President admitted, actually the target that is given is not easy, because previously, the company (PLN) did not managed to achieve the target of 10 thousands MW for eight years.

After visiting the headquarters of PT. PLN (Persero), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and entourage suddenly visited the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), in Sudirman, Jakarta.

The arrival of President Jokowi not in vain because trading on the Stock Exchange on Tuesday (7/4) noted the highest Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), to the 5520 points. IHSG climbed 43 points reached its highest point so far at 5,523 points.

“It was recorded IHSG 5520 points, the highest point in history. What does it mean? Sense of optimism is visible in IHSG. It appears that investor confidence in Indonesia is very good. Therefore, if there are pessimists are wrong, “said President Jokowi told reporters.

Slavery case that occurred in the Aru Islands, Maluku, or more commonly known as Benjina case gets the attention of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the meeting which addressed the issue of illegal fishing, in the office of President, Jakarta, Tuesday (7/4).

“On the issue of illegal fishing related with Benjina, this is not only become a national issue but also has become an international issue, and I ask to be reported later,” President Jokowi said.

The President accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla reminded the importance of coordination between the ranks in the relevant ministries with the Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, said that the evacuation of 220 citizens from Yemen conducted in two phases, has been underway quickly, safely and efficiently. Foreign Minister continues to urge Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Yemen to select the evacuation option return to the homeland for the safety of himself and family.

“When the evacuation option can still be done, the government expects all citizen immediately volunteered to be evacuated before it’s too late,” Retno said in a press conference at the Foreign Ministry Palapa Room, Jakarta, Monday (6/4).
