President Jokowi Widodo (Jokowi) determined to enhance bilateral cooperation with Papua New Guinea (PNG). The success of PNG in improving economic growth makes President Jokowi impressed.

“This is a very impressive achievement,” President Jokowi said when dinner together Prime Minister of PNG Peter O’Neill in parliament, Port Moresby, on Monday (11/5).

All that has been achieved, Jokowi said, is inseparable from the leadership of Peter O’Neill in advancing the country. “I also impressed with PNG’s economic growth that is very high,” President Jokowi added.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) lead directly Organizing Committee of the 18th Asian Games 2018 or Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) which will be held in four (4) provinces, namely South Sumatra, Jakarta, Banten and West Java Province.

In the Presidential Decree Number 12 Year 2015 dated April 30, 2015, President Jokowi became Chairman of the Steering, accompanied by Vice-Chairman of the Steering: Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, the members: 1. Wismoyo Arismunandar; 2. Agum Gumelar; 3. Rudy Hartono; and 4. Ahmad Sutjipto.

After completing a series of visits to Maluku, North Maluku, Papua and West Papua, on Monday (11/5) morning, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Iriana Widodo heading for Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG) for a state visit.

Before heading to Papua New Guinea, President Jokowi ending the series of visits in Papua with allots of Indonesia Health Card (KIS), Indonesia Smart Card (KIP), Family Welfare Card (KKS) and Social Assistance Card (KAS) for persons with disabilities to citizens Village Madarni, Manokwari, West Papua, on Monday (11/5) morning.

On the last day of his working visit to Papua and West Papua, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Iriana opportunity to distribute of Indonesia Healthy Card (KIS), Indonesia Smart Card (KIP), Family Welfare Card (KKS) and Social Assistance Card (KAS) for persons with disabilities.

The cards distribution are conducted in the village of Padarni, Manokwari, West Papua on Monday (11/5) morning. The details of the recipient of cards are as follows: KKS 887 given to heads of household, KIS submitted to 2,232 people, KIP for 1,070 students, and KAS submitted to 52 people.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) announces an important decision related to the task of journalism, particularly for foreign journalists. Starts this Sunday (10/5), foreign journalists are free to perform the task of journalism in all regions of Papua, as well as to other regions in Indonesia.

“Starting today, Sunday (10/5), I release foreign journalists who wanted to come to Papua as well as to other regions,” said President Jokowi told reporters that intercepted after doing harvest in Wapeko, Kurik District, Merauke, West Papua, Sunday (10/5).

Inaugurates Way Leman Dam, President Jokowi Determined to Make Buru Island as Rice Barn of Maluku

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Iriana visited Buru Island, Maluku, Thursday (7/5). On this occasion, President Jokowi launched Planting Rice and inauguration of Way Leman Dam, and handed Family Welfare Card (KKS), Indonesia Healthy Card (KIS) and Indonesia Smart Card (KIP), in the village of Wanareja, Gelar Way Apo, Buru Regency.

While giving a speech at the launching, President Jokowi expressed his determination to make Buru as the largest rice producer in Maluku.

“I saw the rice here is very fertile rice fields, however it does need intensive treatment, so that the production of rice in Maluku province, is the rice were taken from the island of Buru, not from other provinces,” President Jokowi said.

President Jokowi Visits Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, West Papua, and PNG

After flying since Wednesday (6/5) midnight, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo landed on the airport Pattimura Ambon, Maluku, Thursday (7/5) at 06.00 (local time) to begin a series of visits to eastern Indonesia for 5 days (7-11 May).

In Ambon,  President Joko Widodo is scheduled to attend the official opening of the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) Association of Indonesian City (APEKSI) and Grand Launching Mangente Ambon 2015.

President is also scheduled to perform handover Family Welfare Card (KKS), Indonesia Healthy Card (KIS) and Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) to some representatives of the people of Ambon.

President Targeting a Million Houses Program Completed This Year

President Joko Widodo has a target for one million low-cost housing program that should be completed this year. The program is to target the needs of lower-middle class people who do not own their own home. For this year, the housing program will be built simultaneously in eight provinces.

“The housing development program for people is aimed to meet the shortage of houses in Indonesia that reached 13.5 million units,” Minister of State Secretary Pratikno said in Jakarta, Wednesday (6/5).

Pratikno said, about 60 percent, or as much as 603 516 of one million housing program is intended for low-income people.

Deputy of People’s Welfare,Cabinet Secretariat, Surat Indijarso leads the FGD on Poverty Prevention Efforts in Papua, which was held in the Cabinet Secretariat, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/5). Surat Indijarso confirms that the Government is committed to solving the problems in Papua through dialogue. Therefore, the Government expects inputs from various parties, especially from communities of Papua.

“We hope in this forum could obtain feedback, what actually becomes a red thread or a substance that can be done by the government,” Surat Indijarso said in his speech when led the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of group discussion on the Poverty Prevention Efforts in Papua.
