President Jokowi Optimistic the Food Self-Sufficiency Will Be Achieved in the Next 3-4 Years

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed, based on his visit to the affected areas, he more  knows the terrain in the country, now he believes that food self- sufficiency, food security and food sovereignty will be achieved within a time not too long, approximately 3-4 coming years.

“More I know the terrain, more I convinced that food self- sufficiency, food security, food sovereignty can be achieved within a short time. Our estimates of 4-5 years could be achieved”, President Jokowi said, when opening the Third Jakarta Food Security Summit (JFSS) held at the Jakarta Convention Center on Thursday (12/2) morning.

Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya Sugiarto expressed that the Bogor residents ready to welcome the presence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) for offices in Bogor Palace.

“It is an honor and privilege for the citizens of Bogor, moreover it is in line with our step that would like to organize the area around the Bogor Palace and Botanical Gardens,” Bima Arya said to reporters on the yard of State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/2). Mayor of Bogor was present at the Presidential Palace to attend the limited meeting with President Jokowi to discuss about flood disaster management in Jakarta.

To Yogya, President Jokowi Will Close the VI Indonesian Muslims Congress


The atmosphere of the VI Indonesian Muslims Congress, in Yogyakarta, 8-11 Fabruari 2015.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will close the VI Indonesian Muslims Congress (KUII) in Hotel Inna Garuda, Yogyakarta, Wednesday (11/2) morning.

Five-yearly congress with the theme of “Strengthening the Role of Political, Economic, and Cultural Muslims to Indonesia Which Equitable and Civilized as a Manifestation Commitment of Muslims to the Homeland (NKRI) Based on Pancasila” that took place since Monday (9/2), and opened by the Vice President (Vice President) Jusuf Kalla.

The participants came from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the representative of Islamic organizations at the national level, boarding schools, colleges, institutions of Islamic from domestic and foreign, professionals and individual figures. For the first time that KUII attended by 42 sultans throughout the Nusantara, including Sultan Iskandar Mahmud Badaruddin of Palembang.

Attorney General: Only President Can Grant Clemency of Death Penalty for the Drug Offenses

Attorney General Prasetyo admitted that a number of death row inmates of narcotics and drugs (Narkoba) have filed a complaint to the State Administrative Court (PTUN) against the plan executions by government. However, he cautioned that only the President could grant clemency to convicted drug traffickers, nothing else.

“What is certain, once again I say that clemency is the prerogative of the President, the only head of state who has the right, it cannot be contested,” Attorney General said to reporters after attending a limited cabinet meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/2).

After a few days on a working visit to Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) returned to work at the Presidential Palace. Accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, President Jokowi lead a limited cabinet meeting about the port, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/2).

“We want to talk details regarding the sea transport, which is of course linked to the possibilities related with highway and railway,” President Jokowi said in the introductory of the meeting.

The Government of Indonesia and Government of the Philippines have agreed to increase the volume of trade between the two countries to be doubled in 2016. This agreement delivered by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a joint press conference with President of the Philippines Benigno S. Aquino III, in Malacanang Palace, Manila, Philippines, Monday (9/2) afternoon.

Previously, President Jokowi and President Aquino III led a delegation of their respective countries in bilateral talks, which was held as a series of President Jokowi’s visit to the Philippines, Sunday – Monday (8-9 February 2015).

President Jokowi welcomed by Vice President of the Philippines, Jejomar C. Binay on arrival at Manila airport, the Philippines, Sunday (8/2).

After state visit in Malaysia and Brunei, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Iriana continue the state visit to Manila, the Philippines. The President and his entourage arrived at the airport Col. Jesus Villamor, Manila, the Philippines, on Sunday (8/2) at 17:00 local time.

The arrival President Jokowi welcomed by the Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, Jejomar C. Binay accompanied by the Foreign Minister Albert F. Del Rosario, and the Minister of Transport and Communications Francis N. Tolentinoi. While the Ambassador of Indonesian to the Philippines Johny J. Lumintang immediately welcomed President Jokowi at the door of the presidential plane.

Indonesia – Malaysia Agree to Establish a Special Envoy of Maritime Border

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Malaysia agreed to establish Special Envoy and the technical meeting in order to resolve old issues related to border and maritime.

The deal was announced by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Mohammad Najib Tun Abdul Razak after the bilateral meetingg of delegations from both countries, in Perdana Building, Putrajaya, Malaysia, Friday (6/2).

Besides the issue of the maritime boundary, according to Jokowi, in a bilateral meeting also agreed the matters relating to fishermen, whether they are overlapping areas or in the waters of Indonesia and Malaysia.
