President Jokowi accompanied by members Pansel announced eight names who passed the selection of Capim KPK, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (1/9)

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) after receiving the Committee of Selection for the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Candidate, led by the chairman Destry Damayanti, announced 8 (eight) candidates name of KPK leaders who pass the selection to be submitted to the Parliament for the fit and proper test.

“From the stages of selection has been done, namely, registration, announcement result of administrative selection, objective test and making of paper, then profile assessment, interview and medical tests, has been handed over to me 8 (eight) candidates KPK commissioner 2015-2019, which has been selected on the basis of integrity, competence, leadership, independence, and also experience related to matters relating to the eradication of corruption,” said President Jokowi told reporters at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (1/9).

Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Marwan Jafar called on all sides to together help accelerating  disbursement of village funds .

According to the Minister, if the village funds have been used, traffic for goods and service can begin and economic activities can begin from villages.

“All sides must sit together – from regents to the governors – to accelerate disbursement of village funds,” Marwan said during a dialog with district heads and regional governments at Griya Gubernur, Palembang, South Sumatera on Friday (28/8).

President Joko Widodo Distributes KIS, KIP, KKS and KASPDB in Bali

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Widodo, on Sunday (30/8) visited Bali on a working visit to distribute the Indonesian Health Card (KIS), Indonesian Smart Card (KIP), Prosperous Family Card (KKS) and the Social Assistancy Card for Severely Disabled People (KASPDB) ina field in Tulikup Village, Gianyar Regency.

At least 1,565 KIS, 376 KKS, 393 KIP, and 31 KASPDB were distributed and the President himself symbolically handed 33 of those cards to the residents.

In his remarks, President Joko Widodo said that those cards must be used for the useful purposes.

Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Agung said, because some political parties or candidates undertake a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court (MK), and some regions and even have entered the stage of trial, the government chose to wait for the Court’s decision in order to avoid overlapping decisions.

“Do not let the President decide something, and then the Court decided differently. Therefore, we will wait for the Court’s decision,” said Pramono told reporters after accompanying President Jokowi, received Rachmat Witoelar and Sarwono Kusumaatmadja, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (31/8) afternoon.

Cabinet Secretary also said that in terms of time in some regions, the Regional General Election Commission (KPUD), has opened registration renewal and at this time more or less there will be nine regions that have a single candidate, including Surabaya, Tasikmalaya, Mataram, etc.

Bank Indonesia Limits Foreign Currency Purchase Maximum US$ 25000

To maintain the stabilization of rupiah exchange rate considering there are many foreign currency requests which do not relate directly to the real economic activity, Bank Indonesia (BI) changes the limitof the maximum value of foreigncurrency purchasethrough spot transaction which is done without a specific purpose (underlying), previously from US$ 100,000 per month for each customer/foreign party to US$ 25,000 or equivalent per month for each customer.

“Thus, every foreign currency purchase above US$ 25,000 is required to own underlying transaction in the form of all trade and investment activities. Besides, BI also regulates if underlying transaction nominal is not the multiples of US$ 5,000, rounding up the multiples of US$ 5,000 will be done,” Executive Director of Communication Department of BI Tirta Segara said in a press statement, on Friday (28/8).

The President’s Cup Football Tournament was kicked off with a match between the host team Bali United against Persija Jakarta, in a stadium with a capacity of 25 thousand people.

In his speech, the President said he was thrilled as the football tournament in Indonesia can resume.

President Joko Widodo Inaugurates Coal-Fired Power Plant in Batang

President Joko Widodo accompanied by First Lady Iriana inaugurated the groundbreaking of Coal-fired Power Plant (PLTU) in Batang, Central Java, on Friday (28/8) morning. The 2X1000 megawatt (MW) power plant is located at the beach of Ujungnegoro Village, Kandeman Sub-district, Batang Regency.

In his remarks, President Joko Widodo invited all investors to become the sponsor for this project because the State Budget is not enough to fund this project. “This coal-fired power plant is expected to supply electricity to Java and Bali Islands,” President Joko Widodo said.

Submission for Reduction Facility of Institutional Income Tax Can be Done Through PTSP Office: Finance Minister

Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro said that the proposal for tax holiday facility in the form of Reduction Facility for Institutional Income Tax as stipulated in the Regulation of Minister of Finance (PMK) Number 159/PMK.010/2015 could be done through a One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) office.

“The process is done through the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) that is PTSP,” Bambang said during the press conference at Djuanda Hall of the Ministry of Finance in Jakarta, on Thursday (27/8) afternoon.

President Joko Widodo has asserted that there should be no more stalled projects due to either licensing issues or land acquisition. The President wishes the projects are running as soon as possible.

“I will pay a visit to check this again all of suddenin one, two, three months ahead,” the President said when inaugurating the construction of Steam-fueled Power Plant (PLTU), in the coast of Ujung negoro village, Kandeman subdistrict, Batang Regency, Central Java, on Friday (28/8).

The construction of a 2 x 1000 MW capacity PLTU worth USD4 billion is to resume after a four-year delay. The Government cooperates with a private company PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia to resume the development projects that will supply power to the islands of Java and Bali.
