Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tjahjo Kumolo said that he had received instruction from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to accelerate the development of border regions covering 187 sub-districts.

 “President’s instruction to accelerate the process of infrastructure development including transportation and others,” Tjahjo Kumolo told reporters prior to Closed Cabinet Meeting on Economy at Presidential Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/12).

President Jokowi received the submission of credentials of four Ambassadors from friendly countries, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (18/12)

After inaugurating the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (LBBP) of Indonesia for Lebanon Chozin Chumaidy, President Jokowi took delivery of Credentials from four (4) Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (LBBP) from friendly countries to the Republic of Indonesia, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (18/12) afternoon.

President Jokowi Installs Chozin Chumaidy as Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon

At the State Palace on Thursday afternoon (18/12), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) installed and swore in Ahmad Chozin Chumaidy as Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Lebanon. He will be based in Beirut.

The installation began with the recitation of Presidential Decree Number 124 of 2014 concerning the appointment of Ahmad Chozin Chumaidy as Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Lebanon who is based in Beirut. The installation was followed up with his swearing-in by President Jokowi.

To Shape Same Perception, President Jokowi Encourages Relevant Officers to Undergo Integrated Training in Juvenile Criminal Court

In order to implement Article 92 paragraph (4) of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning Juvenile Court System, and in order to shape the same perception in handling children who have to confront law under Indonesia’s Juvenile Criminal Court System, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on 1 December 2014 signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 175 of 2014 concerning Integrated Education and Training in Juvenile Criminal Court System for Law Enforcers and Relevant Officers.

The Perpres mentions that the integrated education and training are aimed to (a) improve law enforcers’ and relevant officers’ knowledge about children’s rights, justice, restorative measures, and diversion under Indonesia’s Juvenile Criminal Court System, (b) improve law enforcers’ and relevant officers’ competence in handling children who have to confront law, and (c) fulfill the need for law enforcers and relevant officers to implement Indonesia’s Juvenile Criminal Court System.

President Jokowi: It is Different With 1998: Do Not Be Too Worry in Facing Weakening of Rupiah

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that the weakening of rupiah exchange rate recently is not worrying fundamentally since all countries also experience the same.

“We can see that if our country is compared with Japan, Malaysia or even Russia, we are still in the great position,” Jokowi said it while leading the Specific Cabinet Meeting for Economy in the Presidential Office Jakarta, on this morning (Wednesday).

According to the President, actually this opportunity (the strengthening of US dollar) should be used to encourage our industries. “The industries should get incentive therefore the export-oriented industries can go faster in order to get benefits from this weakening position of rupiah exchange rate,” he said.

President Jokowi reiterated the government’s commitment to improve everything, including maintaining the authority of Indonesia as a big country.

“We want this country to have authority, and the main weaponry system/defense equipment (alutsista) that we had I think indicates that way, that Indonesia is a big country and we should have the authority,” President Jokowi said to journalists, when reviewing the exhibition of defense equipment (alutsista) of Indonesian Army (TNI AD) in Silang Monas, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/12) afternoon.

Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Andi Wijayanto who accompanied President Jokowi attended the celebration of 2014 Archipelago Day in Kotabaru said that the establishment of BAKAMLA was based on Presidential Decree Number 178 of 2014 on BAKAMLA.

Authorizing the Agreement, Jokowi Allows OECD to Open Representative Office

With the consideration of an agreement signed by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Organization for the Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in St. Petersburg, Russia on September 5, 2013, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through the Presidential Regulations Number 146 of 2014 signed on December 1, 2014, had authorized the agreement that allows the OECD to open its representative office in Indonesia.

According to the agreement contract of Government of RI conducted by Financial Minister Chatib Basri and General Secretary of OECD Angel Gurria in St. Petersburg, Russia, on September 5, 2013, the authorization by President Jokowi is needed to facilitate the formation of the Representative Office of OECD in Indonesia, in order to support and ensure the implementation and management of effective partnership between the Government of RI with OECD.

The meeting is to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries. “Cooperation in education and infrastructure”. They have funding agency GIZ that has been working years in Indonesia, as well as their foundations.
