On the last day of his visit to South Korea, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the final session of the 25th ASEAN – Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit, in Busan, South Korea, on Friday morning (12/12). The session was attended by ASEAN’s and South Korea’s national leaders.

The summit which had the theme “Building Trust, Bringing Happiness” was divided into two sessions. The series of the summit had actually begun since 11 December 2014.

Before attending the ASEAN – Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit which was organized on Thursday afternoon (11/12), on the morning of the same day President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took the opportunity to visit Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) Company in Busan, South Korea.

DSME already establishes cooperation with PT PAL (Indonesia’s state-owned shipbuilding company) in building three submarines which Indonesian government has ordered with total values amounting to about USD 250 million.

Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto straightened the definition of budget saving. In his speech in front of the officials of echelon I and II of Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday afternoon, he underlined the most important  word from the policy of President Jokowi is not the saving but the efficiency and rational.

“As long as it is efficient, rational and we can explain it, it is better than saving but zero in result,” Andi said it by giving an example about saving 10 billion budgets but without result.

In addition to visit the company that manufactures ship Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), on the second day of his visit to Busan, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also held a bilateral meeting with South Korean President Park Geun Hye.

In the meeting that was held at the Exhibition Center, Bexco, Busan, Thursday (11/12), President Jokowi convey appreciation for good bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Korea over the years. Jokowi recommend that there is a meeting between the Foreign Affairs Ministers to continue the relationship better.

After taking flight for about 6.5 hours, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Iriana Widodo has arrived at Gimhae Air Base Airport, Busan, South Korea, Wednesday (10/12) at 15:30 local time.

President Jokowi and his entourage were welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador for South Korea, John Aristianto Prasetyo and South Korean Ambassador for Indonesia Taiyoung Cho.

Wishing to Build Soon Trans Sumatra Roads and Kalimantan Toll Roads, Jokowi: I’ll Take Charge of the Money

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his wishes to undertake soon a number of infrastructure projects, like Trans Sumatra roads, Trans Sumatra railways, Kalimantan toll roads, and Kalimantan railways. He even wanted to realize his wishes as soon as possible and he demanded that such projects must start next year.

“In Lampung yesterday, I summoned the ministers, like the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Public Works, and the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises. We have pointed the locations and made the decisions. The projects must’ve started in next February,” President Jokowi said when he was delivering his general lecture in front of Yogyakarta Gadjah Mada University’s (UGM’s) community of scholars on Tuesday (8/12).

The President and delegation fly with Presidential aircraft depart from Halim Perdanakusuma airport at 07.00 AM. There, seen to have released the delegation were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister of POLHUKAM Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Indroyono Soesilo, TNI Commander General Moeldoko, Head of State Police General Sutarman, and Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.

President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana are enthusiastically welcomed by the people when visiting TPI in Gorontalo

Taking advantage of his visit to Gorontalo, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took time to go on ‘blusukan’ to the location of Gorontalo fish market on Saturday morning (6/12).

The President who was accompanied by First Lady Iriana Widodo arrived at 08:15 WITA or 07:15 WIB and saw the process of fish trade at Fish Landing Base (PPI) at Gorontalo Tent. Hundreds of people had crowded the sidewalk.

People lined up neatly and did not stop shouting “Pak Jokowi! Pak Jokowi! as the presidential entourage cars passed. They shouted along the way since Jokowi came out of hotel. Jokowi did not hesitate to approach the people and shake their hands.

Meeting at Palace, SBY and President Jokowi Agree to Support Perppu on Elections of Regional Heads

Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), in his capacity as the Chairman of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Merdeka Palace Jakarta on Monday (8/12). On that occasion, they took the opportunity to discuss the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) on Elections of Regional Heads which was recommended to be rejected in the National Congress of Golkar Party in Bali a few days ago.

According to SBY, he and President Jokowi took the same stance to support the Perppu on Elections of Regional Heads and to urge the enactment of the Perppu into a law. “Our stance is 100 percent the same,” he said.
