On Friday, 29th August 2014, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre (BNDCC), President SusiloBambangYudhoyono delivered his keynote address at the 6th United Nations Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC). In his speech President Yudhoyono highlighted the emerging challenges and threats to harmony and civilization, and what the alliance could do to prevent its worsening.
Dipo Alam states the importance of paintings and historical fiction novels for promoting co-existence of different cultures. Therefore, he proposes the establishment of “UNAOC Painters and Historical Fiction Novelists Club”. It is intended as a collaborative endeavor which at its formative stage could involve the UNAOC, OIC – IRCICA, Indonesia – Turkey Foreign Ministries Programs of Public Diplomacy, and related parties which share common interest. This proposal is underlined in his paper which is presented by the Vice Ministry of Education and Cultures, Prof Dr. Wiendu Nuryanti, in the side events of the 6thGlobal Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC), entitled “Coexistence of Different Cultures: Examples from history as lessons for the future”.
On Sunday, 20th July 2014, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono called on friend President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas at 15:30 from the State Palace in Jakarta.
President Yudhoyono called President Abbas to learn first hand of the severe conditions in the Gaza Strip and also to once again underline Indonesia’s support for the establishment a State of Palestine.
President Yudhoyono conveyed that the crisis in Gaza has gripped national attention in Indonesia and that it was a very serious issue to all Indonesians. The fact that of all this was happening in the holy month of Ramadhanwas further stirring high emotions in Indonesia and throughout the Muslim world.

President SBY and Chairman of NAM-Iran President Rouhani Coordinate efforts to Rally Support for Palestine
On the 11th July 2014, President SusiloBambangYudhoyono received the phone call of Iranian President HasanRouhani, who was also calling as Chair of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) to discuss the situation in Palestine.
Earlier in the day, President SBY chaired a Cabinet Meeting to discuss three things, namely the follow up to the Presidential elections, the situation in Palestine and also focusing effort of the government for the last 100 days of office. On the situation on Palestine, President Yudhoyono and Indonesia condemned the attack on Gaza strip.
On June 4th 2014, on the Island of Batam, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott at the Nongsa Point Hotel. The meeting began with a tete a tete followed by a joint press statement and concluded with a dinner session with delegate members.
