President SBY and All Indonesians Receive WEF Global Statesmanship Award and the Philippines Order of Sikatuna- Rank of Raja

the_third_global_stateman_award_2-sby-abrorThe second day of the President’s visit to Manila bears two agenda, bilateral and multilateral. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono conducted a State Visit to the Philippines’ Presidential Palace, the Malacanang, and later attended a special session of the World Economic Forum East Asia.

The State Visit started off with laying wreath at the Rizal Park Monument to pay respect to the hero that sparked the Philippine Revolution in the 19th Century. Following that, the President heads to the Malacanang to have a bilateral meeting with Philippine President, Benigno S. Aquino III. Among the topics discussed during the meeting is the state of bilateral relations between the two countries as well as regional and global issues of common interest.

President SBY speaks about Leveraging Growth for Equity at WEF East Asia in Manila

wefOn the 22nd May 2014, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Madam Ani Yudhoyono and the Indonesian delegation, on board A-001, arrived in Manila, the Philippines to attend the World Economic Forum of East Asia and to conduct a bilateral meeting with the Philippines.  The last WEF-East Asia Meeting was attended by the President was in Bangkok in 2012, and where Indonesia hosted the forum also in Jakarta in 2011. President Yudhoyono also attended WEF in Davos back in 2011.

At the Makati Shangri-La in Manila, where the WEF-EA was being hosted this year, President Yudhoyono met with old friend Executive Chairman and Founder of WEF, Klaus Schwab and also shared the stage with President Aquino of the Philippines, Prime Minister of Vietnam, and Vice President of Myanmar.   Below are excerpts of his statement.

President SBY attends his last ASEAN Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar

foto_aseanPresident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended his last ASEAN Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar after 10 years since he attended his first Summit in Viantianne in 2004.  The 24thASEAN Summit chaired by the Government of Myanmar was a special moment for President Yudhoyono because in 2011, when Indonesia was Chair of ASEAN, he made special effort to ensure Myanmar had the opportunity to also Chair ASEAN, despite receiving concerns from ASEAN Partner countries.

President SBY receives Phone Call of PM Abbott in Bali during Asia Pacific Open Government Partnership Conference

telp_sbyOn the afternoon of 6th May at 1400 at the Bali Nusa DuaConference Centre, after hosting the Open Government Partnership, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received the phone call of Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.  The Australian PM had requested to call the President after conveying regrets for being unable to attend the OGP Asia Pacific Conference.

For this conference, President Yudhoyono had sent invitations to several leaders in the Asia Pacific, including Australia.

According to the press statement by the Special Staff of the President for International Relations, Dr TeukuFaizasyah, the following points were agreed.

In promoting Asia Pacific Open Government Process, Indonesia invites Australia to Bali in May 2014

faizasyahAs the Asia Pacific Open Government Process Conference comes closer, on 6-7 May 2014 in Bali, more and more reporters sought clarification on Indonesia’s invitation to Australia, recalling the current status on bilateral relations.

In a phone interview by Viva News to President SusiloBambangYudhoyono’s Special Staff for International Relations, Dr Teuku Faizasyah, a number of clarifications were made.

Among the questions by the Vivanews reporter was the following:

Was the invitation to Prime Minister Abbott an indication that bilateral relations will be normalized?

Ojo Lali Loh Yo-Tuku Loh Yo: President SBY encourages guests of INACRAFT 2014 to buy Indonesian handy-crafts

inacraftOn the 23rd April 2013, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Madam Ani Yudhoyono attended the 2014 INACRAFT convention at the JCC.  The conference area was filled with participants and the stall on various arts and crafts.  In his opening speech, President Yudhoyono expressed the following hopes.

“Praise Allah today we are able to once again attend the opening of this year’s Inacraft. It is our prayer that today’s activities will bring great benefits for all of us, but especially benefits to our efforts to enhance our economy, especially the improvement of the prosperity of the arts and crafts maker of our beloved country”

President SBY receives Envoy Credentials from Slovakia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Ecuador, Spain and Guinea

sahabat_dubesOn the 22nd April 2014, President SusiloBambangYudhoyono received the credential letters of 7 new Ambassadors to Indonesia.  Six of them were residing in Jakarta, whereas one of them were from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

These Ambassadors were the following:
